Post Spring Break Update

Since Spring Break the Norse have had an up and down season.

In conference play the Norse lost to Coe College 4-5 inside at Coe College. The match was extremely close with #1 doubles winning but #2 and #3 lost in close matches. After being down 1-2, the Norse fought back in singles, but it wasn't enough. Winning singles matches was Scott Sundstrom, Ramesh Karki, and Nick Mozena. The match was tied at 4-4 with the match coming down to #6 singles in which Sam Burman played Jeff Damisch. This came down to the third set. Tied at 4-4 Sam Burman was up 30-15 when Damisch made an absolutely terrible call. Burm hit a second serve ace and Damisch called it out, it happened to be right in front of the entire Luther team as well as Brian Huinker, the Norse head coach. Sam ended up losing the match 6-4 in the third, but fought hard in order to get back into the match after losing the third set.

Moving on, Luther lost another 4-5 match against Carleton College. Luther lost at #2 and #3 doubles, but won at #1 doubles. Winning in singles were #1 Scott Sundstrom, #3 Ramesh Karki, and #6 Sam Burman. Aaron Gendron also played a close match at #5, this match went into a third set, but Aaron lost 6-2 in the third.

After losing to Carleton, Luther played St. Olaf. After being down 0-3 after singles, Luther posted three wins in third set tiebreakers and two straight set wins to win the match. A huge comeback.

After Easter the Norse took down conference rivals Wartburg 7-2, but lost to Gustavus Adolphus College on a Sunday evening 8-1 after Ramesh Karki captured the only singles victory.
